SUCCUMBING

Succumbing is a documentary meditation on transformation, creativity, identity and legacy. Moving beyond the traditional behind-the-scenes format, the film explores the physical and emotional process of creating art under pressure, and the personal sacrifices that often accompany that pursuit.

Through an intimate observation of the creative process, Succumbing examines how spaces, people and ideas transform when pushed beyond their familiar boundaries. It considers what an artist must surrender certainty, comfort, ego and control in order to create something meaningful. At its core, the documentary asks what remains after that transformation has taken place: what is lost, what is discovered, and what we ultimately leave behind through the work we create.

Rather than simply documenting the making of something, Succumbing becomes a reflection on the act of creation itself and what must sometimes be shed in order to reveal something sublime
